True enough... there can only be improvement if we can actually see for ourselves how others do it... when I was in HK last August I actually saw for myself just how high the level of Para Para there is. It's a bit late, but perhaps I'll just share my experience there:
I noticed hardly anyone of us do those so-called difficult songs on the machine (eg Deja Vu, Money Go!, etc) before I left for HK, but when I went there, those are the only songs they'd ever play... so when I was playing songs like velfarre 2000, Bandolero Commanchero they actually asked me if I'm from overseas.
When I attended one of those Para Para sessions organised by the HK Para Para Dance Association, I was almost reduced to the role of a spectator as I really don't know many of the songs (songs like Fly High, Super Euro Flash, Dreamin of You, songs which we take for granted now)... when I talked to a few of the Paralists they were actually saying they are relatively slow in learning those songs. I thought to myself, oh god, then where do we Singaporeans stand here?
Of course, Para Para in HK was actually very much supported by the local govt and the local media. That certainly helped raise the profile of Para Para there.
[--end of report--]
Well, it's easy for us here to say 'Only if we have this' or 'Only if we have that', but are we willing to do something about it?

One thing we must wait for is the acceptance of Para dancing into the Singapore society which is quite good now . But we must clear the minds of ppl who think para is only for underage ppl who can't go disco / gay dance etc* . Well i think the media had done engouh help . IT is now up to us to change the minds of those people. If we can do that , Para will be accepted and hence ppl will learn to appreciate it and etc etc etc... TeD: I dun think it is fair to say that we are better than them or they are better than us... Each of us are good in our own individual ways, think there is actually no need for any comparisons Well . I agree with this . * Me shows this to willie *

Maybe the competitions has taken its toll, that we can't really come together and encourage Para Para as a large community. Of course it's a pro and con thing. With competitions come creativity. That's where some people find Para Para interesting, to brainstorm unique moves, mix their preferred songs, show the crowd what they've got. hEh~ That's probably where our SG style builds on. Someday some exchange program might just occur between Hong Kong, Taiwan or even Japan, who knows ... hello everyone

Alright I'm gonna lock this thread. I realized that the further we go, the closer we come to shooting someone down. No one deserves that.
