This goes especially to Frost Ger and Hot Vampire. You 2 seem like you play FFX. Do you play the international version? Cuz I need big time help...
There's this fricking monster named penance, who has more than 8 million hp for each part of his body... and Yojimbo's Zanmato can't seem to affect him. My characters are all already uber(99,999hp, dealing 99,999damage per blow) with all that stat maxing thing. And I already have everyone's ultimate weapons, with Bahamut, Anima, Yojimbo and the Magus sisters stats maxed out. But he still frickin beats me.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
(ps: Hey frost`ger, I have to disagree with you. Seymour Guado sucks d*cks and he looks like he has a potbelly. He is soooooo evil in the game... god I hate him)

Juz wondering Sky, does FFX International have the same storyline as the normal FFX?? Or is the only difference in the additional bosses, the new sphere grid or more optional stuff?

do you have the official FFX book? If so, does it help? I don't think a popular game like FF will make you stuck at a part forever. Sorry i do not know seymour guado's character and i haven't seen his full body thx. I said i only liked his FACE features

Haha, if you play the game, frost ger, you won't like Seymour. Ok, so he does have a funky hairstyle but seriously his outfit makes him look like he has a potbelly. Although he does have a six-pack...
I DO have the FFX guidebook, but as you see Ted has said, the international version is slightly different. There is an extended storyline, an optional one... and this one involves defeating the dark Aeons(summons), which I have already done... leaving Penance at the back. He's optional, so I'm NOT stuck, but I want to defeat this SOB. So... ANYONE CAN HELP?!
(note to JesusFreak: FFXI is going to suck. I've seen the preview, its like Diablo II in a 3D world or Phantasy Star Online. PLUS... in order to play on-line, u NEED TO PAY FEES. God dammit...)

Yah, FFX has the coolest graphics! About FFXI, I think it is gonna be quite a promising game since it's the first in the FF series which allows multiplayers to play it. I tot FFX was gonna suck, but boy was I wrong. Maybe FFXI might be another super-game in disguise.

Yes, a masterful company like squaresoft, in a massive multiplayer universe. The only thing that brings its score down, IS THE GOD DAMNED FEES! SQUARESOFT IS VERY GREEDY. THEY CHARGE MONEY FOR PLAYING ON-LINE. And that is what gonna make it suck.
FFXI is going to rely on its multiplayer features to stun the audience. And the need to pay, let alone the inconvenience as the service is only available in Japan, America, and Canada, is going to kill this game.

Lets be honest, when you fight Penance, theres one thing you must have, and thats patience. You can call me boastful, but being a Veteran RPG player, I can tell you, most of this "invincible" bosses can be defeated by something called patience. Keep trying Saiko and I hope you find a more effective way of beating him, here's how I beat him. Took me a good hour to beat him.
No.1 - His arms aren't 8 Million HP each. Be realistic. It took me a few quick hits (at least 4-5 turns) to get rid of it. Now when the arm is destroyed, he cannot call on his special attack (forgot whats it called, issit Judgement Day?). Now that renders him almost useless. Before I continue, here's a brief runthrough of all his attacks.
His body has an attack called "Obliteration" (pardon me if i got the names wrong) and it hits for a good 15k to 25k (it got to 30 a few times). And thats when I have uberized my char 255 on all defense. This attack hurts like hell, and I usually heal after i get one of those.
Most of his attacks come from his arm though, and they hurt like hell too. The one attack which pissed me off (when I was still trying to figure Penance out) was Calamity. Ooooooh, nothing pissed me off more than 3 Poisoned, Confused, Cursed, Dark, Mute party members. This attack for your info, inflicts every god forsaken status ailment to you. (If i'm not wrong). Ribbons prevented most of these attacks (though I got cursed occasionally) So Make sure every active battle member has Ribbon. It'll make thigns much easier.
Tera-Graviton, as terrifying as it sounds is really no big deal. Damage is dealt on a percentage to your Maximum HP. He has Kimahri's Mighty Guard which he casts on himself (quite often in my case). He can cast slowga too (i usually reflect my slower chars). Finally, the arms have this attack which is similar to the Monster Arena's Shrinryu's Eraser. It sorta "shatters" when you get hit by it. It hurts, thats all. If i remember correctly, Ribbon kinda makes you immune to it. (I think)
Zanmoto effects him only when his arms are destroyed if I'm not wrong.
Just stick with my theory, kill his arms then attack him with every thing you've got. Since he deals ridiculous amounts of damage, setting your overdrive to comrade works. Remember, it took me a good hour to kill him. So you must have patience, and perseverence. Oh and one more thing, I hope you uber-ed your luck (I did) It helps a frickin lot.
Now before I end, I'd like to put a little disclaimer. Don't EVER flame me about what I say. I defeated him the way I just outlined, I'm just sharing it. If I mispelled anything and you don't like it, get SquareSoft to sue me then. Don't give me crap like "What you say is bullshit, I got killed just like that" then its your tough luck. I got unlucky myself when trying (because sometimes he got lucky and he chained a couplea attacks together, leaving me with miserable amounts of health).
I hope you succeed in killing Penance man. I was so happy when I succeeded. I don't have that game though, my friend does and he asked me for help on defeating penance. Good luck Saiko =)

Thanks Nostalgic! Hurray!!! Finally someone who can help... eh... ok so I made a mistake but I swear I hit his arms over 30 times with 99,999 and they didn't go down that's wierd...
I have to try again! God dammit... YOU TOOK AN HOUR TO BEAT HIM?! That's fast! My friends over at gamefaqs take at least an hour and 10 minutes. Haha... you're good!
(btw, Dark Anima has 7-8million hp, according to the faq...)

I only go gamefaqs unless the game really stumps me. For example, when I was playing, i couldnt understand a lot of al bhed because I didn't collect the primers. =/ So i had to go gamefaqs to get them deciphered.
I'm glad to help. Dark Anima wasn't that bad. What really pissed me off were the Dark Magus Sisters. They pissed me off bad. I cringe in fear everytime i see Razzia =/
Anyway. if theres any other thing u want to ask, by all means do so. Btw, I've had friends finish him (Penance) off in 45 minutes. So i'm not that good =).
Cheers

William..... Sounds to be mi is that every FF series big boss or tough guys are defeated in the same way.... Although i didnt play FFX but it sounds to mi that it is the same way i used to defeat these type of monsters..... Actually wad i noe is that experience counts.... The more RPG games u played, the faster u can reacted on difficult situations. U will noe straight away wad to do next..... And for who have played many FF series will noe that u can have anything else, but w/o RIBBON, that is SAYONARA to u...... ;D ;D ;D Hope to share my FF experience with everybody( that makes mi more eager to buy PS2 and play FFX....... Oya!!!! Dun forget abt MGS2!!!!! Haha!!!!!!!!)

Experience does play a part. Ribbon were always on my characters, but I devoted a good half week to figure out how he fights, Penance's favourite combinations and how he reacts to certain effects.
Its like I make friends with the enemy, then when I find out how he fights, I turn on him. Penance wasn't the worst though. Ruby from FF7 gave me a harder time. Of course, Knights of the Round Dispatched him easily (and everytime he hit me, he'd get Bahamut Neo'ed 8 times w/o retaliation, I usually go get a coffee when that happens). My real challenge was to figure out how I could kill him with only my Sword. I did, and the fight took an hour and 45 minutes. Remember, Ruby has exactly 1.55 million HP and the most u can do is 9999. I had to hit him about 160 times successfully and assuming i do 9999 damage all the time (which is impossible to do all the time and Ultima Weapon depends on your health) I won't die, not with the Phoniex Combo, but it took me a shit load of tries to finally succeed.
MGS2 is fun, but collecting the dog tags are a pain. =D
If u want you can always come over and give it a go, I have mainly the hit games (Devil May Cry, MGS2, FFX, Beatmania IIDX 5th Style, Dynasty Warriors 3 (Shin-SanGoku 2) and last but not least, Guilty Gear X)
Cheers to all of ya RPG Lovers =)
