It appears it has started in Singapore after Channel U decided to hold the 1st ever Para Dancing Competition in Singapore. But sadly... as soon as the competition finished... many people in the Para scene were not seen again.
Why? I have in my own views in this points.
<i>Para Dancing is for GIRLS <i>
Firstly , the Para machine we seen in arcades is PINK . Secondly , PPA is made up of an all girls.
The companies promoting Para dancing was aiming the attention of Japanese school girls. Many guys in Singapore fell into the hands of it making the ratio of 5:1 in terms of the number of guys and girls dancing para. Many locals in Singapore cant accept the idea of guys doing this dance as they only think girls looks nice dancing in that only.
- Para community never aimed to spread the message Para was for both sexes and V6 even made their own version of 'Kingdom of Rock', they could actually use that as a support that guys can look up that Para dancing is not only a girl thing.
<i>Para is a trend in Japan. <i>
Like clothes, Para was portayed as a fashion statement. Because the association of clothes ( fashion) was closely related to Para Dancing. [ You had to wear suitable clothes when dancing para in competitions ] The fashion we chose to wear is - from Japan.
Youths like to try out new things and soon get tired and bored of them and move on to other stuff ... just the way most Paralist went out of the scene in Singapore.
If ya notice. There is a certain group of people in Singapore that are attracted to Para Dancing . Because of their love for JPOP music, they sought out to learn the dance steps for ayumi songs , dream and even Every Little Thing. When the groups stopped producing Eurobeat songs... they went interested in Para anymore.....
<i> The Para community in Singapore </i>
Sadly to say... there is selfish people within us. Videos for the latest dance steps were only shared among a small group of people. Rare songs like the full version of the latest videos were kept within themselfs. Many in the community didn't get a chance to learn those dances and have to seek for them themselfs with no one supporting or even caring them.
There is no database to keep track of the Para Dance groups in Singapore... so when they dissapeared no one knows..
Frankly speaking, if ya are a Paralist, WHY YA ALL DANCE FREESTYLE ON THE MACHINE? You should be proud of that ya know the dance and dance it out to promote Para within the community not give the community the impression that Para is a GAME.
Did anyone sought out to promote this point....? No... many still think Para is a Game...
To be continued.
i wrote all this tings in my point of view if ya disagree or anything ... its your view. I dont want to debate that my points are wrong or watever.. i just wan ya all to know why... para faded out.

I agree para went dead in S'pore mainly because ppl treated it a fashion and when arcade became flooded wif freestylers...para was out of fashion. What they dun understand is, for many of us para is never a fashion statement, the beat lives forever in our heart.
Didn't Hip Hop and Break Dance come out in the beginning as fashion statements? But they stayed on and grew in popularity. In fact, I started out para becaused at that time a sudden interest in dancing pushed me to find a stepping stone. I had wanted to advance into hip hop but then i realise para is more than a dance. It brings ppl together. Have you seen before a mass break dance. The sad thing is para failed to bring S'porean together. Para started out in S'pore in the form of competition but it was not meant to be. Competion brings ppl together, not to interact and exchange but to fight and outdo. I dun mind ppl disappearing after the competition cuz they are not real para dancers, they do not promote the spirit of para. Remember PM's quitters and stayers.
Even if para is a girl thing, it definitely looks better than freestylers' snake dance. I am a tae kwon do practitioner and I dance Ultra High Heel and Mickey Mouse March. Funny huh? I dun mind ppl looking, freestylers tried so hard to grab ppl attention but I was the the one catching attention. Dun they see its not how pro u r that attract ppl but the passion u show in the dance. Being serious, u look more pro. Do they noe how stupid they look trying to act pro being lazy (putting one leg over the sensor). Ironically, many ex para dancers are being blind followers allowing themselves to degrade.
For those still standing, all I can say is u r not alone. Together, we will relight the fire. Keep to this faith. U do a lot by dancing para in the arcade even it's juz once a week or a month. Three years ago, Para started in S'pore in U channel's studio. After three years, para will restart, tis time in a place where ppl get together and enjoy not to compete. Tis is my vision of para's future in S'pore. I hope u'll share tis vision wif me.

Logical statements, both of you. Now we know the root of the problem, maybe we have a hope. And in case you're wondering, people are still reading.

Thought you in army? Hahaha~~~
Actually I dunno if I'm still qualified to talk in here anymore, but IMHO, There's only one reason why parapara has dwindled down so badly over the past couple of months. One word - Trend.
I dunno how many of you are aware, but they are still having parapara sessions in velfarre in Japan. But us? Nobody seemed to be interested in it anymore - and I'm not even talking about the paralists yet. We can't be kidding ourselves and think that we don't need any support for the thing to grow. To do it all on our own is almost as impossible as asking for the moon. We can sit there and whine the whole day saying that nobody want to support us and all that, but think about it from another point of view. If I were some manager of some companies and here I have a group of people asking me to support Parapara, the first thing I'll consider is "Will this thing be profitable?" Obviously the answer is no, cos there are a million other things out there that actually make more money in Parapara. Secondly, I'll consider "what's it gotta do with my company's progress?" Again, "nothing" would be the answer. There's simply nothing for the companies to gain from in supporting parapara.
After spending a year in uni, I've seen how hard it is for anyone to be doing marketing for things that are actually profitable. Now we are talking about something that isnt even profitable in the first place. Just think how hard it's going to be. Even with NYC's help, it's still going to be hard because it wasn't an in thing, it isn't now, it probably never will be.
Some may argue that hiphop and all those crap started as trends too, but think about this, it has become a culture because of the sheer amount of attention it can generate. Imagine if radio stops playing all those hiphop crap, imagine if TV doesn't show all those silly hiphoppers in action, imagine if places like Zouk doesn't hold all those hip-hop bashes. Then yup - we'll see hiphop die down too.
The next best thing we can have now is really to hope for the next boom in Japan, which hopefully can bring it back up here in Singapore.

Para para to me, is not a money making tool, not a trend, not even a dance. It is a SPIRIT, a HUMAN SPIRIT. a spirit worth preserving, as long as we human are still standing. I'm a free thinker. But i firmly believe that HUMAN SPIRIT remains even after our death. Not in the form of ghosts but shows up in the ppl we had influence when we r living.
If i had treated para as a dance in the first place...i'll not have persevere until today. Para spirit will live on. Even if nobody dance para anymore, i'll continue dancing to the eurobeat. Even if i die, my passion will 'gan dong' my sons and daughters to continue the dance. Even if my sons and daughters die, their sons and daughters, and their sons and daughters will continue living tis para spirit.
Paralists, let us unite to show the world our PARA SPIRIT, a spirit of unitedness, perseverance and standing up against all odds. Take these ppl away from their corrupted world (where everything is money and money is everything), to our Para Para Paradise.

[glow=red,2,300]Para para to me, is not a money making tool, [/glow]
I agree with that but [glow=red,2,300]not a trend, not even a dance[/glow]
What do you mean not even a dance? =)
We dance para firstly is to enjoy, make more new friends and because we are interested. Right now, i am trying to let my schoolmate to understand more about para dance and eurobeat songs. I suggest we can let others to listen to eurobeat mixes at least they will think eurobeat musics sound not bad too. I manage to make my classmates to enjoy eurobeat and they give good comments. Now i my classmate also wants to join in our para dance hehe. So may be you all can use my suggestion it might work~.
Now in Singapore, para group become less i can only see VOX and PEX. EP seems to be a group of good friends, i don't see them para much. So let's try at least make para stay alive~ =)

Dun worry guys, I'm waiting for the revolution to happen. As news runs round, I have only one hope left to pin on (I tink Steven, James and Maurice will knoe wat I'm saying)...when dat realli starts to materialise, I'll recall the organisers and helpers of yesteryear to help out - and we shall revive PPSG together. Stay tuned.

I'm not saying para is not a dance. Para, in its physical form, is a dance. In its spiritual form, para is unitedness and perseverance. I'm not forcing anyone to think the same way like me. Anyway, tis is wat i FEEL not THINK.
Next time u ppl do mass dance, just remember u r not just performing a dance but showing a spirit of unitedness. U guys have danced para till now, can u not say para is perseverance?

Perhaps we have moved from playing an active role to playing an reactive role... ie to say "if got anything then call us loh". Buahaha~~ I guess at some stage everyone will do that. But don't rule out a comeback (hahaha sound as if we are dead and all that haha). ;D
