1 day 3 men went to pizzahut to get a pizza. After they have finished their meal, they shared their money to pay for the bill.
The waitress collected $30 for the pizza. Each man paid $10. When the waitress walked back to the counter to deposit the money, the manager told her the pizza the men ate was on promotion, thus it was only $25 instead of $30.
The waitress was sent back to return the men the change. As she was dishonest, she took $2 from the change and put it in her pocket. She then returned $1 to each man.
1 man thus paid 10 - 1 = $9 3 men thus paid 9 x 3 = $27 Total Money = $27 + $2 in waitress's pocket = $29
But the total was $30... what happened to the missing $1?... I can't solve this bladi IQ question someone tell me the answer please... ... ... ... ... ... ... and don't give me a lame answer like "because of gst" or "it dropped on the floor"

I think the whole trick in the question is this part: 3 men thus paid 9 x 3 = $27 Since all of them paid $27 in total, and the waitress took away $2... $27 - $2 gives u $25, which is how much the pizza costs.... At least, that is what I think

The key to this thing is one simple fact... regardless of the transition involved, the fact remains is that the 3 people paid $10 dollars each
$10x3= $30
Discounted cost = $5 Pocketed money = $2 Left = $3
E.g If no discounted cost but return one buck each = $27 Each person get back $9 Given back $3 to each person Total = $30
What i mean is that basically nothing is loss, because the figure is 25. (You could use $2.50 etc) because the fact that $30 is the TOTAL pool of money. If 2 bucks is taken again from the pool, the pool only has $28. So when 28 is divided by 3 people, you will get 9.333333 So when you times 3 to this 9.33333333 (infinite 3), you will get back $30.
Actually when you took each person share and minus off ($9) the amount paid back, you actually making it a divisible mulitiple - $27, therefore you cancel the 0.3333 for the 3 of them (-off 0.333 x 3 = 1)and it will seemed like a missing one dollar. Well, think of it this way then...
$25 bucks $3 returned $2 Pocketed = $30
So... nothing is loss.
E.g if that pizza cost $26, all paid $10 each and pocketed $1 and the 3 dollars return back a dollar each.
Returned a dollar ($10-$1 = $9) $9x3 = $27 + 1 dollar pocketed = $28 $2 bucks missing! lol!
The figures matters alot.

Dont bother trying to answer this question, whatever logic u put in it, it won't add up.
Its simply called a Maths Error. An unanswerable question. Ever seen some of them on MRTs where they have this triangle with diff colors and when they shift the parts a little, they have a missing block?
Theres many of such errors. Including 0 divide by 0.
You can't say its infinity, infinity is 1 divide by 0.
No matter what u do, u will never get an answer, even an oxford mathematician can't give you an answer, its a mathemtical error.
Cheers

my point of view:
9x3=27 27+(-2)=25(cost of pizza after discount)
try other figures?
a pizza cost 20 bucks if each pay 10 bucks, i pocket 1 buck, left 9 bucks and returned 3 bucks each 10-3=7 7x3=21 21+(-1)=20(cost of pizza)
i pocket 4 bucks 10-4=6 6/3=2 10-2=8 8x3=24 24+(-4)= 20(cost of pizza)
get what i mean? what the salesgirl pocketed is a negative value. to the customer, what is paid and retuen is a postive value and what is missing is a negative vale, in this case, the amount of money pocketed. try it with any figure and u will understand the logic behind it

WAH LAO EH I READ AND READ AND READ AND THEN I GOT FED UP ...
Look ... this is how much the 3 clowns have to pay:
$25 for the stupid pizza $2 for the tax the waitress imposed on them for HER being dishonest.
Total up? $27 Hence the 3 clowns now have to pay $27 in total for their bill. Am I not wrong?
So if each clown had just received their pay of $10 that day. They would pay $30 and receive 30-27 = 3 dollars back, which divided among the 3 clowns amount to ONE BUCK.
SO IN THE FIRST PLACE WHY ADD 2 BUCKS TO THE $27? THE $27 ALREADY CONSISTED OF HER $2. THIS SHOULD BE THE IQ QUESTION OF THE DAY. EVERYONE GOT FOOLED BY THAT SENTENCE THINKING THAT SOMETHIN' WENT WRONG. NOBODY STOLE NO ONE DOLLAR FROM NOBODY.
And yes I'm still wondering where did that missing square from that MRT ad went to.
stupid question end of topic
