Final Fantasy da~ I have played 4 to 10 and also the boring mystic quest too. But my favourite is 4, I like the main characters (Cecil, Rydia~ ALL), the story, the monsters~ ho ho~ FF5 is not bad.. changing occupations. but not as good as 4, the gameplay. FF6 must be one hot favourite of most ppl, but for me it's 2nd to 4. The graphic have improved on the 16bit console. Gameplay also not bad, but because of some X factor which I also don't know.... I like 4 better. FF7, the first PSX FF. Not a bad try except do you realise every character is almost the same depending on which material u equip them. I personally do not really like this series that much. FF8 - Refer to comments of FF7 FF9 - They try to make the "unique" character thing come back....but the characters.....mmmmmmm......... u judge.......... FF10 - WOAH~ PS2 FF.... Nice graphic Nice character Nice Story.....Sad Ending It's 3rd for my fav~ Mystic Quest - An Beta Testing FF. That's all I can say. I have not tried those Gameboy FF Legends though.....

searching for the rom of ff4 too... but has anyone tried tactics? i heard it's something like 5, in a sense you can change jobs too...
(btw let's refer to all the games in japanese terms... meaning ff1 = ff1, ff2=ff2 and so on. this is because america imported the ff series later, so the american ff3 is actually japanese ff6 or something like that, you get the idea =P)

Ah~ I forgot about Tactics..... It's a very nice game...must try......... But summons are useless in that game.....sometimes it takes 48 turns to summon Bahamut......by that time, the stage has already ended......... Of all the starting of FF series...I love tactic's opening most~ All the weapons....... WOAH~ NICE~!

FF Tacts is a different genre of RPG. Its called a Turn-Based Strategy RPG and I'd prefer not to compare it to True RPGs (the FF I to X series). And I can gladly say, the only game which comes up half as close as Tactics is Vandal Hearts 1 and 2 and brigainder (forgot the proper spelling) and of course, Shining Force =P
I agree with WM's point of view. FF7 and 8 were a little bland in terms of character development. But I have to say, the battle system/character development system in these two games are the most unique I have ever seen in the vast world of RPG. Materia was cheap I agree, it can really screw up the game with certain combos, but the fun was there.
FF9 was Squaresoft's first attempt at "childish" characters (as so many refer it to) since Final Fantasy 6 (FF3 for English imports). As mentioned, the Unique character development has returned, yet the storyline wasn't as strong as FF8 or 7.
FFX imho has the most advanced character development I've encountered so far. Squaresoft never ceases to surprise me with unique character development systems. FFX combnies the qualities of Materia management from FF7 and in turn, u can still train your character the way you want to and in the end, with time, you can turn them into jack of all trades (ubering).
3 FFs have made me cry so far, FF7 8 and X. If I CRY over a game (emotionless thingy like me) you know its storyline is powerful.
Front Mission (also from SS) were also a memorable series.
Regarding the FF4 rom, I'll try to find it, I know various webmasters who have Rom sites. I'll let u guys know if i can find it.

you want roms? Here is where I get 99% of my snes roms. www.pe2000.netAnyway of all series (except 9 and 10 which I never played b4.), I find that FF6 and FF5 are among the best. FF6 has one of the most characters (14 if i'm not wrong) and the gameplay is very well-balanced with many sub-quests and secrets. FF5 is challenging as it's one of the hardest FF series to level. Mastering all jobs are not enough for defeating Omega (toughest sub-boss I've encountered in FF series.) Try leveling to 99 and you'll get what I mean by hard to level.

I played every single FF before...
I have to say my favourite ff is ff3j followed by ff5... The job class system simply rulez. Disappointments would be ff8... i think even mystic quest was better than ff8.

Well, the fact that the enemy level are always on par with you in ff8 sux. and drawing of magic, take such a long time to draw the magic that you want.
